The Lament for Jerusalem

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 19, 41 – 44:

As Jesus drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace–but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides. They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.”

We had another terrible winterstorm yesterday and today, Monday. About one foot of snow fell (about 25 cm.) To make it worst it was very windy and yesterday after 3:00 p.m. we lost power and it was not restored until near noon today. It was very cold in my house and I hardly slept the whole night. I could not send out the message yesterday because the power was gone. My computer would not work. However, now the house is heated and once more it is nice to live inside.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“You know My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters that Jerusalem played a great role in the life of the Jewish people and in My life too. The greatest Temple of God was in that city and the Jewish people came there as a nation every year to worship God the Father and to offer sacrifices. It played an important part in My life because I was brought to the Temple when I was an infant and St. Joseph and My Mother offered Me to God the Father as I was the first born of that family. I used to come from Nazareth to Jerusalem every year once I was twelve years of age to pray and it was there that My parents search for Me for three days until they found Me in the Temple. I spoke often in the Temple after I started My public life. It was in Jerusalem where I was condemned to death, walk the Way of the Cross and was nailed to the cross just outside the walls of Jerusalem and buried there. I appeared to the Apostles after My resurrection in Jerusalem. However, because the people of this city refused to welcome Me and had Me killed, in the year 70 Jerusalem was destroyed completely including the Temple. This Temple has never been rebuilt and it will never be rebuilt. Many of the people of this city were killed when the Romans destroyed it in the year 70. If they had welcomed Me when I entered it as the King, this would not have happened. However, My death in Jerusalem was the great sacrifice of Mine for the salvation of the people of the world.
My dear friends, look upon Jerusalem as the place that rejected Me and it was destroyed. If you do not follow Me and go to church every Sunday and pray regularly, you too will be destroyed by burning in hell. So come follow Me now before it is too late and you will be saved. I will give you peace and joy on earth and eternal happiness forever in heaven. I bless you all.”
