The Mission of the Seventy-Two

After this the Lord appointed seventy -two others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’ Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say, ‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.’ Yet know this: the kingdom of God is at hand. I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town.(Passage from the Gospel of St. Luke 10:1-12)

Dear Friends,

Yesterday afternoon I went to the Manor in Alberton to celebrate Holy Mass with the people there and at the end I visited those who were bedridden. This evening I will go to our Parish Church in Palmer Road for an hour of Eucharistic Adoration. We have adoration there every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Many people of the parish come to spend time with Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist.

(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:)

“I bless you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters scattered all over the face of the earth. During My time on earth I chose seventy-two men and I sent them two by two to every town and village I was to visit. They were to announce the coming of the kingdom of God and to cure the sick. They would stay in the home where they were welcomed. If the people did not receive them, they were to go in the middle of the street and shake the dust of the town from their feet as a warning.

Everyone who enters the Kingdom of God is given a mission. The mission will be made known to you so that you can use the gift the Father has given you. Some have the gift to preach, others have the gift to sing and play an instrument of music, others have the gift of taking care of money and still others have the gift to take care of the sick and elderly. You all have the mission to announce Me to the people you meet. If you do not carry out your mission then it will never be accomplished. Look around where you live and see the various organizations there is and become a member of at least one of them. I am happy with such groups as the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Women’s League and the Charismatic Movement to name a few of them. I bless you all.”

The Temptations of Jesus

The Temptations of Jesus

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was hungry. The tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” He said in reply, “It is written: ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.'” Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you and ‘with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'” Jesus answered him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'” Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me.” At this, Jesus said to him, “Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.'” Then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered to him. (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 4:1-11)

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, Sunday, I concelebrated Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Parish Priest at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road. Some snow had fallen the night before but only about two inches so I got to the church without trouble. Today I will go to the Manor in Alberton to celebrate Holy Mass with the Catholics there. Most of them come to Mass every Monday.

(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Redeemer given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:)

“Join Me, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters scattered all over the world, to do battle with Satan. He tempted Me when I was in the desert after I had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. I opposed him every time and he could never get Me to do the wrong things that he commanded Me. Satan knew that I was hungry so he asked me to change the stones into loaves of bread but to do that was to satisfy My own desire, which I did not come to earth to do. He brought Me to the top of the temple and asked Me to throw Myself down and the angels would come and support Me. For Me to do this was presumption and it would force My Father to do something He was not ready to do. At the end the devil brought me to the top of a mountain and showed Me all the kingdoms of the world and then he told Me to worship him. For the Son of God to do such a thing would be preposterous; I chased him away.

I want all of you to act in the same way when the devil tempts you. Never give in to any of his temptations. When you see what is asked is sinful then drive him away. I will be there to bless you and to give you many graces. I love you.”

The Visit of the Magi

The Visit of the Magi

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet: ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.'” Then Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.” After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way. (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 2:1-12)

Dear Friends,

My friend, who has been with me for a few weeks, will soon leave for the State of New York in the USA. I give thanks to God for this visit. I expect another person soon, who is also coming to visit me. Yesterday morning I celebrated Holy Mass in honor of St. Andre, the great miracle man of Montreal, Canada.

(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:)

“I am your friend and I greet you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who will read this message. As you know, three magi came from the east to visit Me and to do Me homage. They brought great gifts for Me. This shows, My dear friends, that I came into the world not only for the Jewish people but also for all the people of the world. I am your Savior whether you come from Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania or the Americas. I came to save all the people who live in the world and all those who will inhabit the world in the future. Come all, My brothers and sisters, and accept Me as your Lord and Savior. There is nobody else but Me that can save you. If you believe in Me and enter My Church, I will bless you and give you the graces you need to follow Me and so one day in the future you will be with Me in heaven. My greatest desire is to bring you all with Me but I need your cooperation. Come give yourself totally to Me and let Me lead you along the path that leads to eternal life. You were born to live in the world for a time to show your love for Me and work together with Me, and at the end I will come to get you and bring you to eternal happiness in heaven. Let us walk together every day.”
