The Last Supper

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 26, 26 – 30:

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, from now on I shall not drink this fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it with you new in the kingdom of my Father.” Then after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Holy Thursday is the day that Our Lord instituted the Holy Eucharist. This is a wonderful gift of Jesus to all of us who believe in Him. By giving us the Eucharist just a day before He died, He made sure that He would remain with us in a very special way although He has gone to heaven and we do not see Him with our eyes. However, He is alive in the Eucharist and He lives in His special house, called the Church. Jesus in the Eucharist is kept in the tabernacle and we can go and visit Him any day. When we go to His house (this is: the Church) He is always there to welcome us. If the sanctuary light is lit that means that Jesus is there. We can also go to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and this is very important for all believers. What wonderful gifts He gives us when we spend time with Him in adoration. We should never forget to thank Him for the great gift of the Eucharist.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Come My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters and be present in spirit on the day I instituted the Holy Eucharist. Read the passage in the Bible concerning the institution and open your heart to contemplate My words. I was present with the eleven Apostles for the institution of the Eucharist. Judas Iscariot had just left to go and betray Me. We were present at the Last Supper and at the meal, I took the bread and blessed it, broke it and gave it to My disciples saying, ‘Take and eat, this is My Body.’ At that very moment there was no longer bread but it had been changed into My living Body. It is I now living in the bread. After the disciples ate the bread and at the end of the meal, I took a chalice full of wine, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins. I also added, “Do this in memory of Me.’ It is was that the wine changed into My Blood and I am present in the chalice. At that very moment all the eleven Apostles became priests. They now had the authority to consecrate the Holy Eucharist and to give this gift to all those who believed in Me and have repented of their sins. It is My Church who is in charge of the Eucharist and all priests must obey My Church especially the Pope.
My dear friends, with the Eucharist you have Me living with you. I am there at all times in My special home and I am always ready to welcome you. Know that I love you and I call you all to come and visit Me often. Every time you come to Holy Mass, you are able to receive Me in the host and I will come and live in your heart. I bless you all.”
