The Question about the Resurrection

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 20, 27 – 40:

Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us, ‘If someone’s brother dies leaving a wife but no child, his brother must take the wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers; the first married a woman, but died childless. Then the second and the third married her, and likewise all the seven died childless. Finally the woman also died. Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be? For all seven had been married to her.” Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise. That the dead will rise even Moses made known in the message about the bush, when he called ‘Lord’ the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob: and he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.” Some of the scribes said in reply, “Teacher, you have answered well.” And they no longer dared to ask him anything.

We had a beautiful sunny day today with the temperature about 6 Celsius (nearly 40 F). A good amount of snow melted and there is water on the roads and in the driveway. I thank the Lord that the snow is going and I hope in a few weeks the snow will be all gone.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I call you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters to believe with all your heart in the resurrection. Every person will rise from the dead on the last day when I return to earth to judge the living and dead. In the reading you see that the Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection and they tried to catch Me with their story of this woman who married seven men. They asked Me whose wife will she be at the resurrection. They did not know that in heaven there is no marriage and no children are born. All those in heaven live forever for once in heaven you will not die. I also told them about Moses who saw the burning bush. There he heard that God is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. God is not the God of the dead but of the living.
So I call you, My friends, to believe in the resurrection of the dead. I was the first one to rise from the dead after I was crucified on the cross and buried but three days afterwards I came back to life never to die again. All of you will rise again at the last day. So prepare for that great day and follow Me every day and on the last day I will bring you all with Me in heaven. I love you all.”
