The Riot of the Silversmiths

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 19, 28 – 40:

When the people heard this, they were filled with fury and began to shout, “Great is Artemus of the Ephesians!” The city was filled with confusion, and the people rushed with one accord into the theatre, seizing Gaius and Arisarchus, the Macedonians, Paul’s traveling companions. Paul wanted to go before the crowd, but the disciples would not let him, and even some of the Asiarchs who were friends of his sent word to him advising him not to venture into the theater. Meanwhile, some were shouting one thing, others something else, the assembly was in chaos, and most of the people had no idea why they had come together. Some of the crowd prompted Alexander, as the Jews pushed him forward, and Alexander signaled with his hand that he wished to explain something to the gathering. But when they recognized that he was a Jew, they shouted in unison, for about two hours, “Great is Artemus of the Ephesians.” Finally the town clerk restrained the crowd and said, “You Ephesians, what person is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the guardian of the temple of the great Artemus and of her image that fell from the sky? Since these things are undeniable, you must calm yourselves and not do anything rash. The men you brought here are not temple robbers, nor have they insulted our goddess. If Demetrius and his fellows craftsmen have a compliant against anyone, courts are in session, and there are proconsuls. Let them bring charges against one another. If you have anything further to investigate, let the matter be settled in the lawful assembly, for as it is, we are in danger of being charged with rioting because of today’s conduct. There is no cause for it. We shall not be able to give a reason for this demonstration.” With these words he dismissed the assembly.

Most of those who have been healed especially at the Chapel of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island were Catholics. However, some Protestants have come too asking for a healing. Our Lord heals the Protestants too but what happened afterwards was that these Protestants turned Catholic after they were healed. They received the grace through Our Blessed Mother. Let us pray that all Christians may be united under the Pope and this is what Jesus wants.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Do not be afraid My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who believe in Me when people are in rebellion. See what happened in Ephesus when the makers of idols stirred the people to turn against those who wanted to destroy the pagan temple in their city. They gathered together and shouted all together in the name of the pagan idol. There was a riot in the town for hours. It was only when the town clerk was able to talk to them that the riot stopped. He told them that we have courts and if they have something against anyone, then bring that person to court and the court will deal with him or her.
In time this pagan temple was destroyed for the people had become Christians and now followed Me, Jesus. The new pagan religion today is New Age and all Christians must be on their guard never to enter into this satanic sect. Come My people and follow Me for I am your only Savior and I love you all.”
