Doers of the Word

Dear Friends,

A reading from Saint James Letter 1, 19- 27:

Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of a man does not accomplish the righteousness of God. Therefore, put away all filth and evil excess and humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls.
Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like. But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does.
If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, his religion is vain. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep one self unstained by the world.

We had a little bit of snow yesterday but not very much. It will disappear today in the rain. I am again looking for money for heating oil to heat my house. My tank is almost empty.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Follow My word My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who believe in Me with all your heart. Many today do read My words in the Bible but they are not doers of the word. It is written that I told the Apostles that it was very important to repent of your sins but some read this but do not repent and do not go to confession. It is important to pray every day and to go to church on Sunday but today many do not pray at home and many others do not go to church on Sunday. The problem is here is this: your faith is very weak. Start praying that your faith may grow and be strong. I do not want you to have any doubts about Me, My brothers and sisters, but I ask you to believe in Me and in everything that the Bible says and all that My Church teaches. In this way you will be a true Christian and follower of mine. I suffered and died for you because I love you. Come and walk with Me every day. I bless you all.”
