The Baptism of Jesus

Dear Friends,
A reading from St. Matthew’s Gospel (3:13-17):

Then Jesus came from Galilee
to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus said to him in reply, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

I must tell you what happened to me on Sunday afternoon. As I was praying Jesus began to speak to me asking me to start the Families for Jesus. This is an organization built around the Christian families. He wants them all close to Him and He calls the families to meet together about six to ten families in a home. All those who wish may meet once a week in different homes to pray. They are to pray the rosary together, read a passage of the New Testament and to share on the passage read. At the end they are to express their petition to the Lord for all their needs. Jesus gave me a prayer to pray every day:

Prayer for the Families for Jesus
Jesus, Our Lord and Our Savior, bless us the families who have responded to your call and now come to meet together regularly and we know that you are present with us.
Send the Holy Spirit upon us to enlighten us and to guide us. Give us the graces we need to follow your call and to pray for all our brothers and sisters that they will grow in their faith and be united with you.
May Our Heavenly Mother pray for us for peace and joy in our families and for good understanding among us.
We thank you Jesus, Our Great Friend, for listening to our prayer and to grant what we asked. Amen.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who have committed their lives to Me. It was St. John the Baptist who baptized Me in the Jordan River and after My baptism the Holy Spirit came upon Me and My Heavenly Father spoke to Me saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’ As you see My baptism was a great event with the three Persons of the Blessed Trinity present. The Baptism was My commitment to the Father to do all that He has asked Me to do. The Father was happy and the Holy Spirit strengthened Me in My human nature. I want each one of you to commit yourself to Me and you will be blessed. I love you all.”
