The Wedding at Cana

Dear Friends,

A reading from the Gospel of St. John (2:1-12):

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.” Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.

After this, he and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.

Today is the first Saturday of August dedicated especially to Our Blessed Mother. She asked that we go to Holy Mass on the First Saturday of the month and receive Holy Communion and we would be blessed indeed.

Below you will find the message of Our Blessed Mother given to Father Melvin. Our dear Mother Mary spoke to him these words:

I bless you My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters scattered in every country of the world. I am praying for all of you that you may have the graces to follow My Son Jesus every day. He is always waiting for you to come to Him and to show Him your love and to commit yourself to Him every day. Offer yourself completely to Him and so He will be free to do with you what He feels best. You should be like clay in the hand of the potter. The potter can do whatever he wants with the clay and it will not resist in any way. You too must not resist Jesus whatever He wants to do with you. What He does is only for your benefit for He knows what you need.

Jesus’ first miracle as you know was at the wedding in Cana. I too was at this wedding. When I told Him that they had no wine, He brought about His first miracle by changing the water into wine. He did this at My request. He is always ready to listen to whatever I asked of Him. So come to Me, My children, and ask Me for what you want and I will go to My Son Jesus with your request. He will never refuse what I ask. I am working for you every day but you need to have great faith in Him and do what He asked of you. I love you all.”
