The Commissioning of the Eleven

Dear Friends,

See below the passage to read taken from St. Mark’s Gospel 16:14-20.
Later, as the eleven were at table, Jesus appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised. He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.

I will be at our parish church this morning to concelebrate with the Parish Priest at the 11:00 a.m. Mass. We had some snow two days ago but not very much. We should have a mostly sunny week coming up.

(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Redeemer given to Father Melvin. Jesus gave him this message.)

“I call you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters living in every country of the world, to be My witnesses where you live. Before My Ascension into heaven, I commissioned My Apostles to go throughout the world to proclaim the Good News to all the people. Today I give you all the same call. Do not be afraid to witness about Me to the people you meet. Do not hide the fact that you believe in Me, Your Savior, and that you follow Me. Through your efforts you will bring many to follow Me and you will be blessed. What is important is to truly live the life of a Christian, a follower of mine. Be a person who forgives those who hurt you and be always ready to help the poor, the sick and the elderly. Be humble and you will imitate Me. I love you with all My heart.

Father Melvin
