The Wedding at Cana

Dear Friends,

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.” Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. After this, he and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days. (Passage from the Gospel of St. John 2:1-12)

I will celebrate Holy Mass this morning in the Little Shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island at 9:30 a.m. On Thursday I celebrated Holy Mass at the Little Shrine in French for those who wish to have Mass in that language. We had a very wet day yesterday for November 11, the day that the First World War ended. But it will be sunny today.

(Below you will find the message which Our Blessed Mother gave to Father Melvin. She spoke these words:)

“I love you, My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters living in the world. You are My very special children. The day I was in Cana for a wedding with My Son Jesus, He performed His first miracle. When I was told that the wine was finished, I went to My Son and told Him the fact and I knew that He would do something. Although He said that His time had not yet come, He took My request to heart and went to the servers and asked them to fill the jars with water. When they were filled, He asked the servers to bring some of the water that had turned to wine to the headwaiter and he was amazed to taste such great wine. This was Jesus first miracle. As you see, My Son never denies Me and when you ask Me to pray for you, I go to Him with the request and He does what you want. He is always happy to do what I ask Him.

Remember, My sons and daughters, that you have a Mother in heaven who is always ready to help you. Do not be afraid to come to Me and if you ask for the right thing I will ask My Son to help you. You can be sure that He will do it. I love to pray for spiritual gifts for all of you and if you suffer, I will pray to My Son that He takes all that away. My dear children, remain always near to Jesus, My Son, and to Me, your Mother. I love you.”
