Paul’s Arrest

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 21, 27 – 40:

When the seven days were nearly completed, the Jews from the province of Asia noticed Paul in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd, and laid hands on him, shouting, “Fellow Israelites, help us. This is the man who is teaching everyone against the people and the law and this place, and what is more, he has even brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this sacred place.” For they had previously seen Trophinus the Ephesian in the city with him and supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple. The whole city was in turmoil with people rushing together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the gates were closed. While they were trying to kill him, a report reached the cohort commander that all Jerusalem was rioting. He immediately took soldiers and centurions and charged down on them. When the saw the commander and the soldiers they stopped beating Paul. The cohort commander came forward, arrested him, and ordered him to be secured with two chains; he tried to find out who he might be and what he bad done. Some in the mob shouted one thing, others something else, so , since he was unable to ascertain the truth because of the uproar, he ordered Paul to be brought into the compound. When he reached the steps, he was carried by the solders because of the violence of the mob, for a crowd of people followed and shouted, “Away with him.”
Just as Paul was about to be taken into the compound, he said to the cohort commander, “May I say something to you?” He replied, “Do you speak Greek? So then you are not the Egyptian who started a revolt some time ago and led the four thousand assassins into the desert?” Paul answered, “I am a Jew, of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city. I request you to permit me to speak to the people.” When he had given his permission, Paul stood on the steps and motioned with his hand to the people; and when all was quiet he addressed them in Hebrew.

During my ordination in the Immaculate Conception Church in Palmer Road, while I was lying on the floor, a man came up behind me who had a terrible rash for many years. He suffered much from this rash. He knelt down behind me and touched his face with the blanket I was lying on and then return to his bench. The next day when he woke up he found that he was completely healed and that rash never came back again. Praise the Lord.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Come My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who have dedicated yourselves completely to Me and see how the people have treated My friend, Saint Paul. He was at the temple in Jerusalem when the Jews turned against him and arrested him and beat him. They wanted to kill him. The commander and the soldiers came out running and stopped them. They took Saint Paul in their custody and brought him to their compound. These people had accused Saint Paul of telling all sorts of things against the Jews, the law and the temple. They also said that he had brought Greeks into the temple and this was forbidden. They had not seen the Greeks in the temple but they had seen him with them in the city. When the soldiers brought him to the compound, Saint Paul asked permission to talk to the people. The commander gave him permission. Tomorrow you will read his speech to the Jews.
Saint Paul is a great witness of Mine and he is not afraid to suffer for Me. He is a great believer in Me and he gave His life to follow Me. I love him and I love you all.”

Paul and James in Jerusalem

Paul and James in Jerusalem

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles 21, 15 – 26:

After these days we made preparations for our journey, then went up to Jerusalem. Some of the disciples from Caesarea came along to lead us to the house of Mnason, a Cypriot, a disciple of long standing, with whom we were to stay. When we reached Jerusalem the brothers welcomed us warmly. The next day, Paul accompanied us on a visit to James, and all the presbyters were present. He greeted them, then proceeded to tell them in detail what God had accomplished among the Gentiles through his ministry. They praised God when they heard it but said to him, “Brother, you see how many thousands of believers there are from among the Jews, and they are all zealous observers of the law. They have been informed that you are teaching all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to abandon Moses and that you are telling them not to circumcise their children or to observe their customary practices. What is to be done? They will surely hear that you have arrived. So do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow. Take these men and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses that they may have their head shaved. In this way everyone will know that there is nothing to the reports they have been given about you but that you yourself live in observance of the law. As for the Gentiles who have come to believe, we sent them our decision that they abstain from meat sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from unlawful marriage.” St. Paul took the men, and on the next day after purifying himself together with them entered the temple to give notice of the day when the purification would be completed and the offering made for each of them.

There was a man who almost every day blood would come out of his nose. He was miserable because of this problem. He came to me and I prayed with him asking the Lord to heal his nose so that it will never pass blood again. This man was completely healed by Our Lord and until today no blood has ever come out of his nose. Thank you Lord.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who gave your lives to Me and follow Me every day. You love to go to Holy Mass and to receive Me in Holy Communion regularly. You are blessed indeed.
Saint Paul, My great friend, came to Jerusalem and he knew something terrible would happen there. The Jewish Christians followed all the laws of the Jews although they were told that they did not need to follow these laws anymore. They had heard that Saint Paul had told the Jews to stop follow those laws and to follow Me. They were not happy with Saint Paul. So the priests in Jerusalem told Saint Paul to go with four men who had made a special vow and they had to be purified and he should be purified with them. Saint Paul went with these four men and did as he was told. He had no trouble to do these things and it will show the Jews that he did not hate them.
We too have to love all our brothers and sisters and to live in peace with them. When it is possible you will have to teach them all about Me, your Savior. I also ask you all to pray for these people every day. I love you and bless you.”

P.S. We had another beautiful sunny day on Monday for the Feast of the birth of Our Blessed Mother and it was also the Feast of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island. May She bless us all.

Arrival at Pitolemais and Caesarea

Arrival at Pitolemais and Caesarea

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 21, 7 – 14:

We continued the voyage and came from Tyre to Pitolemais where we greeted the brothers and stayed a day with them. On the next day we resumed the trip and came to Caesarea, where we went to the house of Philip, the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him. He had four virgin daughters gifted with prophecy. We had been there several days when a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. He came up to us, took Paul’s belt, bound his own feet and hands with it, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit: This is the way the Jews will bind the owner of this belt in Jerusalem, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles.” When we heard this, we and the local residents begged him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? I am prepared not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Since he would not be dissuaded we let the matter rest, saying, “The Lord’s will be done.”

September 8 is the Feast of the Birthday of Our Blessed Mother and it is also the Feast of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island, Our Mother of Life. So tomorrow I will celebrate Holy Mass in Her honor and pray for the end of abortion throughout the world and I will also pray for the end of euthanasia. I pray that all the Catholics will celebrate this great day of Our dear Mother.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Yes, it is on September 8, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters, that we celebrate the Feast of Our dear Mother’s Birthday and you will also celebrate the day chosen by My Mother as the Feast of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island. I call you all to go to Holy Mass and celebrate this great day.
All the angels and saints will also celebrate in heaven this great day.
In every place where Saint Paul went some people spoke about what was to happen in Jerusalem where he was going. A prophet took a belt and tied his feet and told all those present that is what would happen to Saint Paul when he gets to Jerusalem. What was said by these prophets was completely true for that is what happened to him while he was in Jerusalem. He would spent years in prison and tied to a chain and he would go as far as Rome because he was a Roman citizen. At the end he would be martyred.
He is a great saint in heaven and ask for his intercession and he surely will pray for you. I bless you all.”

Father Melvin

P.S. We had another very fine day on Sunday with sunshine and warm weather. Again I thank the Lord for this wonderful weather.
