The Greatest Commandment

The Greatest Commandment

Dear Friends,

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them a scholar of the law tested him by asking, “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 22:34-40)

Yesterday I celebrated Holy Mass for the fiftieth anniversary of my sister Esther and her husband Leo at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road. We had a great meal after Mass in a room that was beautifully decorated. Then at 6:30 p.m. I was at the Little Shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island for the rosary at 7:00 p.m. and the Healing Mass at 7:30 p.m. A good group took part and I prayed with every person present. Some came from Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and from Prince Edward Island.

Today I will celebrate Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m. and it is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I love you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters living all over the world. Love, you know, is the first and greatest commandment of God. When the Pharisee asked Me what the greatest commandment was, I had no difficulty to answer him. First you are to love the Lord God with all your heart and to love one another as you love God. True love comes directly from God. Did you know that forgiveness is very much part of love? If you cannot forgive, then you do not love truly. You need to forgive every person that hurt you in any way and indeed you will be blessed. Remember love is not self-centered but it is centered on the other. You want the best for the other person. If that person should receive a great gift, then you should rejoice with him or her. Love is the summit of following Me your Savior. I love you.”

The Question of the Resurrection

The Question of the Resurrection

Dear Friends,

On that day Sadducees approached Jesus, saying that there is no resurrection. They put this question to him, saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died and, having no descendants, left his wife to his brother. The same happened with the second and the third, through all seven. Finally the woman died. Now at the resurrection, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had been married to her.” Jesus said to them in reply, “You are misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven. And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching. (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 22:23-33)

Yesterday a deacon was ordained a priest here in Prince Edward Island for the Diocese of Charlottetown. He is the second young man to be ordained a priest this summer. Every year we have ordinations here, which is why the Diocese of this island has enough priests to staff the parishes. One of the reasons why we have ordinations every year is because there is Eucharistic Adoration in many of the parishes. Some have perpetual adoration while others have it one day a week.

Please pray for my sister Esther and her husband Leo who will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary today. I will celebrate the Anniversary Mass this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“As I greet you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters throughout the world, I wish to let you know that you and all the people who lived on earth will rise from the dead on the last day. The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. They thought that when one dies that is the end. They were very mistaken because the Father has arranged that all the dead will be joined to their resurrected body as I return to earth to judge the living and the dead. When you rise from the dead, your body will be completely renewed to such an extent that you will never be sick again, you will never feel hunger or thirst, and you will never die again. Those who followed Me on earth will enter heaven and live in glory and great happiness. You will be able to see Our Heavenly Father, I, your Messiah and the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. You will be with Our Blessed Mother and with all the angels and saints. There you will live in great holiness forever. You were made to live forever. Come follow Me and you will be happy.”

The Parable of the Wedding Feast

The Parable of the Wedding Feast

Dear Friends,

Jesus again in reply spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast, but they refused to come. A second time he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet, my calves and fattened cattle are killed, and everything is ready; come to the feast.”‘ Some ignored the invitation and went away, one to his farm, another to his business. The rest laid hold of his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. The king was enraged and sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy to come. Go out, therefore, into the main roads and invite to the feast whomever you find.’ The servants went out into the streets and gathered all they found, bad and good alike, and the hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to meet the guests he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment. He said to him, ‘My friend, how is it that you came in here without a wedding garment?’ But he was reduced to silence. Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’ Many are invited, but few are chosen.” (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 22:1-14)

Last evening I was at the prayer meeting at our church. There was a good group and the Spirit was very strong. Many shared about how the Lord was working in their lives.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“In My love for you I call you all to come and follow Me, especially you, My brother Melvin, and all My brothers and sisters living in every country of the world. You are all called to enter the Kingdom of God, which I came to establish when I was living on earth. The Kingdom starts on earth and it is perfected in heaven. The one who did not have a wedding garment, as the parable teaches you, was thrown out in the darkness. What does the wedding garment mean for those who are in the Kingdom of God? The wedding garment is what is known as sanctifying grace. It is the special grace that inhabits a person who is free of great sin and lives in great faith and follows the commandments.

A person receives sanctifying grace for the first time when he or she receives the sacrament of baptism. I want that this grace remains in your heart for the rest of your life. You can lose it by committing a serious sin but you get it back when you confess your sins and receive absolution in the sacrament of penance. Remain with Me and I will help you every day to be always filled with sanctifying grace.”
