The Way of the Cross

Dear friends,
A reading from
 St. Mark’s Gospel (15:16-21):
The soldiers led him away inside the palace, that is, the praetorium, and assembled the whole cohort. They clothed him in purple and, weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on him. They began to salute him with, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and kept striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him. They knelt before him in homage. And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and led him out to crucify him.
They pressed into service a passer-by, Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.

Yesterday was the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year. Next Sunday we begin Advent in preparation for Christmas. The Gospel of yesterday was the passage from St. John’s Gospel concerning the trial of Jesus before Pilate. I had written about the same passage in St. Mark’s Gospel. Pilate had asked Jesus this question: “Are you the King of the Jews?” and Jesus had said: “You say so.” This means that Jesus accepted that He is King. Indeed He is our King.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and King given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:
“Join with Me, My brother Melvin, and all My brothers and sisters living in all parts of the world, as I undergo My Passion. I suffered terribly at the hands of the soldiers. First they scourged Me and then they mocked Me by putting on me a purple cloak, which is the colour for a king, and they saluted Me and struck Me on the head where they had put the crown of thorns. They also spat on Me. After I was mocked, they stripped Me of the purple cloak and put on My own clothes and let me out to be crucified. I carried My cross for a time but I was very weak and I fell three times. They got Simon a Cyrenian to help Me. You know, My friends, that I suffered all this for you so that you could be free from your sins. Indeed I am the suffering King, your Savior. If you come to Me My brothers and sisters and show your love for Me by following Me, you will surely give Me great joy. Come and remain in close union with Me. Pray every day. I bless you all.”

The Sentence of Death

The Sentence of Death

Dear friends,
A reading from
 St. Mark’s Gospel (15:1-15):
As soon as morning came, the chief priests with the elders and the scribes, that is, the whole Sanhedrin, held a council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. Pilate questioned him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” He said to him in reply, “You say so.” The chief priests accused him of many things. Again Pilate questioned him, “Have you no answer? See how many things they accuse you of.” Jesus gave him no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.
Now on the occasion of the feast he used to release to them one prisoner whom they requested. A man called Barabbas was then in prison along with the rebels who had committed murder in a rebellion. The crowd came forward and began to ask him to do for them as he was accustomed. Pilate answered, “Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?” For he knew that it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed him over. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas for them instead. Pilate again said to them in reply, “Then what do you want me to do with the man you call the king of the Jews?” They shouted again, “Crucify him.” Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?” They only shouted the louder, “Crucify him.” So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas to them and, after he had Jesus scourged, handed him over to be crucified.

Today is the Feast of Christ the King. In fact it is on the Cross that He became the King of the Universe. He gave His life to save us.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters scattered all over the world. For many people at the beginning find it very difficult to think that the Son of God could be killed by hanging Him on the cross. As God together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, I am the Creator of the whole world and of all the people who live in the world. Now to think that those created by God should turn around and murder their Lord and Savior. But that is what happened because I agreed to suffer and die in order to show you how much I love you and to atone for all your sins. Your sins offended God and only God could atone properly for all your sins. Now I am the Resurrected One, Your Savior and Your Friend. I love you all.”

Father Melvin
P.S. I wish you all a wonderful Feast of Christ the King.

Our Blessed Mother at the Foot of the Cross

Our Blessed Mother at the Foot of the Cross

Dear friends,
A reading from
 St. John’s Gospel (19:25-30):
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.
After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

We had another beautiful day yesterday with sunshine the whole day. It was about 8 degrees in the afternoon. I thank the Lord for the beautiful month of November we have had so far. No snow fell and it froze only a few times during the night. I pray that we will have a beautiful month of December.

Below you will find the message of Our Blessed Mother given to Father Melvin. She spoke to him these words:
It is with tears in My eyes that I remember the day I stood at the foot of the Cross of My Son, Jesus. So with these tears I greet you My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters scattered all over the world. Come with Me to the cross of My Son and contemplate His Passion and His Death on the cross. What horrible suffering is underwent as He hung there on the cross. His body was bleeding all over. Drops of blood were falling from His head because of the crown of thorns. Blood also came from His hands and feet where they pierced them with nails. I stood there with tears flowing from My eyes but I knew that He was suffering for each and every one of you to pay for your sins so that the Father could forgive you and open heaven for you. I love you and bless you.”
