Paul before the Sanhedrin

Dear Friends,
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (22:30; 23:1-11):

The next day, wishing to determine the truth about why [Paul] was being accused by the Jews, he freed him and ordered the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin to convene.
Then he brought Paul down and made him stand before them.
Paul looked intently at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have conducted myself with a perfectly clear conscience before God to this day.” The high priest Ananias ordered his attendants to strike his mouth. Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall. Do you indeed sit in judgment upon me according to the law and yet in violation of the law order me to be struck?” The attendants said, “Would you revile God’s high priest?” Paul answered, “Brothers, I did not realize he was the high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not curse a ruler of your people.'”
Paul was aware that some were Sadducees and some Pharisees, so he called out before the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of Pharisees; I am on trial for hope in the resurrection of the dead.” When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the group became divided. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, while the Pharisees acknowledge all three. A great uproar occurred, and some scribes belonging to the Pharisee party stood up and sharply argued, “We find nothing wrong with this man. Suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?” The dispute was so serious that the commander, afraid that Paul would be torn to pieces by them, ordered his troops to go down and rescue him from their midst and take him into the compound. The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage. For just as you have borne witness to my cause in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness in Rome.”

I had the visit of Our Blessed Mother yesterday, the Feast of the Visitation, and you will see what She said in the next Newsletter, which will come out in a few weeks.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior, the Son of God, given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“Rejoice in My great Feast today of My Body and Blood, especially you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters in whose heart I dwell. Saint Paul had a great love for Me and he was not afraid to speak about Me. He was hauled to court before the Jews but through his faith in the resurrection, he was able to divide the Sanhedrin court and the court case ended. You know My dear ones that I am the resurrection and the life. I came back from death and I will never die again.
“I told Saint Paul at that time that he would go to Rome and there he will have to be My witness. He will teach the people about Me, their Savior. Indeed he was sent to Rome and he was bound in chains although he could go around the city teaching the people. Do not worry about what the people will do to you. Come follow Me every day, My brothers and sisters, and I will bless you.”

Paul is Transferred to Caesarea

Dear Friends,
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (23:12-22):

When day came, the Jews made a plot and bound themselves by oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. There were more than forty who formed this conspiracy. They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have bound ourselves by a solemn oath to taste nothing until we have killed Paul. You, together with the Sanhedrin, must now make an official request to the commander to have him bring him down to you, as though you meant to investigate his case more thoroughly. We on our part are prepared to kill him before he arrives.”
The son of Paul’s sister, however, heard about the ambush; so he went and entered the compound and reported it to Paul. Paul then called one of the centurions and requested, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to report to him.” So he took him and brought him to the commander and explained, “The prisoner Paul called me and asked that I bring this young man to you; he has something to say to you.”
The commander took him by the hand, drew him aside, and asked him privately, “What is it you have to report to me?” He replied, “The Jews have conspired to ask you to bring Paul down to the Sanhedrin tomorrow, as though they meant to inquire about him more thoroughly, but do not believe them. More than forty of them are lying in wait for him; they have bound themselves by oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They are now ready and only wait for your consent.” As the commander dismissed the young man he directed him, “Tell no one that you gave me this information.”

I wish to thank all those who have sent me donations in the past month. This has been a great help indeed. I would still need more to pay the bills I have. Thank you very much.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior, the Son of God, given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I am helping you with My grace, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who pray to Me every day. You see how I protected Saint Paul, My great friend. The Jews wanted to kill him but I got his nephew to go and report to him what the Jews were planning. In this way they did not take him out as the Jews wanted, but instead he was taken out of the city of Jerusalem. I had told him that he would go to Rome and work there for Me.
“Yes, I have a mission for each one of you wherever you are. I have chosen you to spread My Kingdom in every corner of your country and in every part of the world. Be ready to do whatever I asked you. Call the people to prayer that they might come and follow the right way and leave the dark path so many of them are on today. Pray for the conversion of all the people so that they may be saved. I bless you all and I love you.”

Paul Ends His Speech and Imprisonment

Dear Friends,
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (22:17-30):

[Paul said,] “After I had returned to Jerusalem and while I was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance and saw the Lord saying to me, ‘Hurry, leave Jerusalem at once, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ But I replied, ‘Lord, they themselves know that from synagogue to synagogue I used to imprison and beat those who believed in you. And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I myself stood by giving my approval and keeping guard over the cloaks of his murderers.’ Then he said to me, ‘Go, I shall send you far away to the Gentiles.’
They listened to him until he said this, but then they raised their voices and shouted, “Take such a one as this away from the earth. It is not right that he should live.” And as they were yelling and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, the cohort commander ordered him to be brought into the compound and gave instruction that he be interrogated under the lash to determine the reason why they were making such an outcry against him. But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion on duty, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman citizen and has not been tried?” When the centurion heard this, he went to the cohort commander and reported it, saying, “What are you going to do? This man is a Roman citizen.” Then the commander came and said to him, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” “Yes,” he answered. The commander replied, “I acquired this citizenship for a large sum of money.” Paul said, “But I was born one.”
At once those who were going to interrogate him backed away from him, and the commander became alarmed when he realized that he was a Roman citizen and that he had had him bound. The next day, wishing to determine the truth about why he was being accused by the Jews, he freed him and ordered the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin to convene. Then he brought Paul down and made him stand before them.

We had a beautiful day yesterday for the Feast of Our Lady’s Visitation of her cousin Elizabeth. Our Blessed Mother was very kind indeed.

Below you will find the message of Our Dear Mother Mary given to Father Melvin. She spoke to him these words,
“I greet you My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters who celebrated My Feast yesterday. It was My joy to go and visit My cousin and to help her during her time of pregnancy. Another great follower of My Son Jesus is Saint Paul. He was not afraid to speak about His Savior and to call the people to believe in Him, to be baptized and to become members of His Church. The Jews however in Jerusalem did not accept what Saint Paul told them and they wanted to have him killed. The soldiers saved him from that. Because of the opposition of the Jews, My Son Jesus told him to leave Jerusalem and to go far away to work among the Gentiles. Now he was back in Jerusalem and he was taken to prison. Because he was a Roman citizen, he was taken to Rome and there he worked hard to teach the people about the Savior of the world.
“I call you all, My sons and daughters, to follow what Saint Paul taught and much of it is written in the Bible in the form of letters. Read these letters of Saint Paul and accept what is in them. I am praying these days for an increase of faith among the Church members. Never stop praying every day and please go to church every Sunday and receive the Holy Eucharist. I love you all and I bless you.”
