James on Dietary Law

James on Dietary Law

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 15, 13 – 21:

After they had fallen silent, James responded, “My brothers, listen to me. Symeon has described how God first concerned himself with acquiring from among the Gentles a people for his name. The words of the prophets agree with this, as is written:
‘After this I shall return and rebuild the fallen hut of David;
from its ruins I shall rebuild it and raise it up again, so that the rest of humanity may seek out the Lord, even all the Gentiles on whom my name is invoked.
Thus says the Lord who accomplishes these things, known from of old.’
It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God, but tell them by letter to avoid pollution from idols, unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals, and blood. For Moses, for generations now, has had those who proclaim him in every town, as he has been read in the synagogues every sabbath.”

A lady from PEI phoned me one day and asked me if I would go to her house and pray with her. She had ovarian cancer. I went to her house and prayed with her and then she went for a cat scan and they found out that there was only dying tissue. The Lord had worked another miracle and I thanked Him with all my heart.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I call you to follow Me My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love Me and have great faith in Me. I am your Brother who gave His life for your salvation. At the famous Council of Jerusalem, all the members listened to the Apostle James as he spoke to them. He told them that I, your Savior, want to save all the people of the world and that includes the Gentiles. However, they do not have to become Jews in order to be saved as some of the Pharisees were teaching. James taught that what the Gentiles should do was to turn away from idols, from unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals and blood. If they do this then they will be blessed. What the Gentiles have to do is to follow Me and do what I have taught them. Indeed many Gentiles did become Christians and they lived a holy life with all the graces I gave them. Do what they did and you too will be holy and I will come and bring you to your heavenly home. I bless you all.”

Council of Jerusalem

Council of Jerusalem

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 15, 1 – 13:

Some who had come down from Judea were instructing the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the Mosaic practice, you cannot be saved.” Because there arose no little dissension and debate by Paul and Barnabas with them, it was decided that Paul, Barnabas, and some of the others would go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and presbyters about this question. They were sent on their journey by the church, and passed through Phoenicia and Samaria telling of the conversion of the Gentiles; and brought great joy to all the brothers. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church, as well as by the apostles and the presbyters, and they reported what God had done with them. But some from the party of the Pharisees who had become believers stood up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and direct them to observe the Mosaic law.”
The apostles and the presbyters met together to see about this matter. After much debate had taken place, Peter got up and said to them, “My brothers, you are well aware that from early days God made his choice among you that through my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit just as he did us. He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts. Why, then, are you now putting God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way as they.” The whole assembly fell silent, and they listened while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders God had worked among the Gentiles through them.

One woman had injured her arm and now she could not lift it or use it to do anything. She came to see me for prayers that the Lord would heal her. I prayed to the Lord asking Him to heal her arm so that she would be able to use it to do what she had to do. The next day she called me to say that her arm was healed and she could lift her arm and she had all the strength she needed. She was so happy. I thanked the Lord for what He did for our sister.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who listen to My Church. The Church has the power to decide questions and it is done through a Council and the first Council in the Church was that of Jerusalem. They had a big question to answer and so Paul and Barnabas and all the Apostles and the priests came together in Jerusalem to take a decision about it. The question came from these Pharisees who had become Christian. It is part of the Jewish faith that all males have to be circumcised. So these Christian Pharisees maintained that no one can be saved unless he be circumcised. So the meeting took place and they discussed for a long time. Then Saint Peter got up and spoke to the group saying that the Apostles were chosen by Me, their Savior, and they were sent to teach all the people of the world. I made no distinction between the Jews and the Gentiles for all those who had faith were purified. He said that we are not saved by circumcision but by grace from the Lord. So there is no need of circumcision. This speech of Saint Peter was enough to throw away circumcision and to rely on the grace from God to be saved. That is why today Christian men do not have to be circumcised.
Remember though that you have to follow Me, your Lord and Savior, and to pray for the grace you need every day. I am always ready to give you the strength you need to follow the commandments and one day to be with Me in heaven.”

P.S. It is cool today with plenty of wind and we had rain at times but the sun did come out now and then. I thank the Lord for this day.

End of the First Mission

End of the First Mission

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 14, 21 – 28:

After they had proclaimed the Good News to that city and made a considerable number of disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch. They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, “It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” They appointed presbyters for them in each church and, with prayers and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had put their faith. Then they traveled through Pisidia and reached Pamphylia. After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished. And when they arrived, they called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. Then they spent no little time with the disciples.

A woman came to see me one day with great anxiety and fear. She could hardly sleep at night and she thought of all kinds of horrible things that could happen to her. I prayed for her and placed my hands on her head and asked the Lord to take away all that anxiety and fear and to fill her with His peace, love and joy. After the prayer she did not have any more anxiety or fear and she thanked the Lord for driving all that away. Praise the Lord for He is always there to help us.

Below you will find the message of Our Blessed Mother given to Father Melvin. She spoke to him these words,
“I love you My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters who are following My Son Jesus every day and have offered themselves to Him to follow Him every day. Saint Paul and Barnabas did great work in the many places they visited and preached the Word of God to the Gentiles there. There were even miracles of healing to show them that My Son Jesus was with them. Many people came to believe and to follow My Son Jesus and that filled their hearts with joy. They suffered too at the hands of the Jews and the leaders who tried to arrest them and to kill them but they managed to leave the town in time and to go to another place.
Every one of you, My sons and daughters, you are to imitate them as far as you can. Do not forget to speak about My Son Jesus to them and to show them that you follow Him and that you pray every day and you go to church every Sunday. Invite them to come to Holy Mass on Sunday so that once they begin to go, they will continue to attend the Holy Mass. In time they will have great faith and return to receive My Living Son in the Holy Eucharist. I bless you all and I am praying for you all.”

Father Melvin

P.S. It rained for most of the day today Friday. At times it was raining very hard. It will rain again tomorrow and then we will have the beautiful sun again. May the Lord bless you all.
