Ananias and Sapphira
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 5, 1 – 11:
A man named Ananias, however, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property. He retained for himself, with his wife’s knowledge, some of the purchase price, took the remainder, and put it at the feet of the apostles. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart so that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And when it was sold, was it not still under your control? Why did you contrive this deed? You have lied not to human beings, but to God.” When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last, and great fear came upon all who heard of it. The young men came and wrapped him up, then carried him out and buried him.
After an interval of about three hours, his wife came in, unaware of what had happened. Peter said to her, “Tell me, did you sell the land for this amount?” She answered, “Yes, for that amount.” Then Peter said to her, “Why did you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord?”
Listen, the footsteps of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” At once, she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men entered they found her dead, so they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.
What a beautiful sunny day we had today. It was sunny all day and it was warm. We had a few days not long ago and they were cold enough with plenty of rain. I thank all those who sent me money to help me and others sent money to put names in the Book of Remembrance. I have a bill to pay which is $225 and I have to pay that bill as soon as possible. I would be so full of joy if I could get this money within the next few days. I pray for all of you who read the message and I ask the Lord to give you all that you need. He is there to help you.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Redeemer given to
Father Melvin. Jesus asked me to write these words,
“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love Me and never tell what is wrong. The story which is at the beginning of the letter is taken from the Acts of the Apostles. Ananias and Sapphira were Christians who believed in Me but they did not tell the truth. They sold a part of their land and kept some money for themselves and the rest they gave it to the apostles. Ananias was the first to tell a terrible lie because it was the custom to sell some of the things you own and give it all to the apostles. Because Ananias did not do what was right, he just fell down and died. Then a few hours later his wife came in and Peter asked her if they had sold the land for a certain amount. She said “yes” and Peter said that the same would happen to her as her husband. So she fell on the floor and died.
This is a great teaching for all of you. If you are My followers,
never lie about anything. Always say the truth and you will be
blessed. I always said the truth when I was on earth. I love you all
and I bless you.”
