The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 22, 47 – 53.

While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd approached and in front was one of the Twelve, a man named Judas. He went up to Jesus and kissed Him. Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” His disciples realized what was about to happen, and they asked, “Lord, shall we strike with a sword?” And one of them struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. But Jesus said in reply, “Stop, no more of this!” Then He touched the servant’s ear and healed him. And Jesus said to the chief priest and temple guards and elders who had come for Him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? Day after day I was with you in the temple area, and you did not seize Me; but this is your hour, the time for the power of darkness.”

We had a strong snowstorm last night with high winds and a lot of snow. Then there was much drifting with the result that you could not see in front of you. So very few cars got out this morning. The big plows came out this morning and clear the roads. There was still blowing snow in the afternoon. It was also very cold just about minus 10. I thank all those who send me money and especially those who sent Me some today. However, I am still short of a few hundred dollars. So, if I could get this over the weekend, I would be very happy indeed. May the Lord bless you all and I pray for you every day.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love to pray and to go to church on Sunday. In the reading today, you see what Judas Iscariot did to Me. He came to the Garden of Gethsemane with soldiers and to show them who I am, he came to Me and kissed Me. I spoke to Judas, My disciple, and told him these words, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” So I understood the meaning of this kiss. The other disciples understood what was happening and one took a sword and cut off the ear of the chief priest’s servant. I immediately went to this servant and healed his ear. Then I told the disciples to stop using the sword. Then I spoke to those who had come to arrest Me. I said, “Have you come out to arrest a robber? I was with you day after day in the temple but you did not come to arrest Me.” Then I told them that this was the hour, the time for the power of darkness.
My dear friends, you can meditate on My arrest and to know that this is the hour for My suffering and death on the cross. It is because of your sins that I had to be killed after so much punishment. I accepted it because I love you and I want you to come and follow Me every day.”
