Love for One Another

A reading from the First Letter of Saint John 3, 11 – 24:

“For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: we should love one another, unlike Cain who belonged to the evil one and slaughtered his brother. Why did he slaughtered him? Because his own works were evil, and those of his brother righteous. Do not be amazed, then brothers, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. Whoever does not love remains in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. The way we came to know love was that He laid down His life for us; so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If someone who has worldly means sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in him? Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.
Now this is how we shall know that we belong to the truth and reassure our hearts before Him in whatever our hearts condemn, for God is greater than our hearts and knows everything. Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence in God and receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him. And His commandments is this: we should believe in the name of Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as He commanded us. Those who keep His commandments remain in Him, and He in them, and the way we know that He remains in us is from the Spirit that He gave us.”

We had a beautiful sunny day today and some of the ice around melted today. Last week we had a day of freezing rain with the result that we lost electricity and many trees collapsed because of the weight of the ice. There is still some ice but it is slowly disappearing. It looks like we will have a beautiful sunny week but it will get colder next week. I will soon need money to buy heating oil as the tank is getting empty. May the Lord bless you all and give you all the strength you need to follow Him.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Redeemer. Jesus spoke to Father Melvin these words,

“I love you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love one another and never hold any hatred in your heart against any person. When I was on earth teaching the Apostles, I gave them one commandment and this is it: love one another as I loved you. If you have hatred in your heart then you live in darkness and you are under the influence of the devil. You will find it difficult to pray and to go to church. There will be no peace in your heart because this gift of peace comes from Me. If you have hatred against any person, then you must repent and repeat often for nearly a month that you forgive this person and you are to call upon Me for the graces you need to forgive completely. Once you have forgiven that person then you will have peace and love in your heart and you will come close to Me. You will be able to pray without difficulty. Then you will be My friend and you will give Me great joy. I bless you all.”
