The Parable of the Ten Virgins

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 25, 1 – 13:

Jesus said, “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight, there was a cry: ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

We had a warm and sunny day today Tuesday. We had a little bit of rain in the afternoon but just a shower. We might get some more during the night. People phone me every day especially for prayers. Today I got a number of phone calls asking for prayers. Some have difficulty walking, others have continued headache and still others have cancer or they cannot sleep. I prayed with all of them asking the Lord to heal them. I also told them to write their names in the Book of Remembrance and I will offer three Masses a week for a full year for them. I told them it only costs $15.00 to write one person in the book for a full year.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who are always prepared for My second coming at the end of the age. Above there is a parable I told the Apostles about the ten virgins, five were foolish and five were wise. These ten virgins refers to the people of the world. Some believe in Me and others do not. The bridegroom in the story is no one else but Me. I am the one who will return to earth at the end of the world. Will you be like the five foolish ones or like the five wise ones. You will not know the time of My coming. Will I come next week or next month or in ten or one hundred years from now? No one knows. However, you must be ready at all times. You need extra oil for your lamps. This extra oil refers to you that you need a strong faith, that you are a person of prayer, and that you avoid sin and go to church at least every Sunday. It is very important that you have your Christian faith and live according to it. If you do then I will bring you with Me to heaven. Those who do not have faith and do not practice it will be sent away to hell. So My dear friends, be ready every day for My coming. You will be blessed indeed.”
