Paying Taxes to the Emperor

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 22, 15 – 22:

Then the Pharisees went off and plotted how they might entrap Jesus in speech. They sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. And you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion, for you do not regard a person’s status. Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?” Knowing their malice, Jesus said, “Why are you testing me, you hypocrites? Show me the coin that pays the census tax.” Then they handed him the Roman coin. He said to them, “Whose image is this and whose inscription?” They replied, “Caesar’s.” At that Jesus said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.” When they heard this they were amazed, and leaving him they went away.

Again I thank the Lord for a very beautiful sunny day we had today Monday. It was sunny the whole day but there was a little wind which help to keep the temperature down. Again I thank all those who have sent me money to help me in my problems. May the Lord bless you all.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I fill you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters with My peace and love. Open your hearts to Me so I can fill them with these great gifts.
As the reading above says, I was approached by some hypocrites who wanted to trick Me to say the wrong words so they could arrest Me. They asked Me if it was lawful to pay taxes to the Emperor. I asked them to show Me a coin that pays the taxes and they did. I also asked whose picture was on the coin and they said it was Caesar’s. So I told these hypocrites that they should give to Caesar what belongs to him and to God what belongs to God. These were amazed at what I said and then they left Me alone.
Yes, every Christian has to pay taxes to their Government so that they can do what is necessary to help the people. However, you must not forget to do what I have told you. You are to believe in Me and to follow the commandments and to pray regularly and to go to church at least every Sunday and if you are free from mortal sin, then you can come and receive Me in Holy Communion. I want you all to be close to Me every day. I love you all.”
