Vigilant and Faithful Servants

Jesus said to his disciples, Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” Then Peter said, “Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?” And the Lord replied, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute the food allowance at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so. Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk, then that servant’s master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful. (Passage from the Gospel of St. Luke 12:22a,35-46)

Dear Friends,

I celebrated Holy Mass yesterday morning at the Little Shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island at 9:30 a.m. In the evening I went to the prayer meeting at our Parish Church to pray for an hour. A good group attended and took active part in the various parts of the prayer meeting.

(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Saviour given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:)

“It is with joy that I greet you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who believe in Me and are faithful to Me. There are so many today who have stopped believing in Me and most often it is because they are led by the evil one to do what is a great offense against the Father and against Me. How many people today have stopped going to church because they are living together man and woman but they did not receive the sacrament of marriage. It is the same with those who have started to drink heavily or to take drugs. These things have become their gods and they have rejected Me who suffered and died on the cross to bring them out of darkness and into the light so they could live in peace, love and joy with Me forever.

I desire faithful brothers and sisters who are always turned toward Me and who call on Me often during the day for the graces they need to overcome the opposition they come across to do good. You need My help if you are to continue to be faithful as a follower of mine. I bless you all.”
